Carter’s, Inc., a leading retail chain for clothing and accessories for babies and young children, was set to experience substantial growth in the retail and outlet industry for both their Carter’s, Inc. and OshKosh B’gosh brands. They initially utilized EMG as a Project Management provider for the Carter’s line New Store Construction, but as the program grew, EMG’s role also grew to include remodels of both Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh. EMG was responsible for managing the project lifecycles from the initial phases of communication prior to final deal negotiations with Real Estate/Landlords, through review of plans and schedules with Architects and General Contractors, to the final project stages of site visits, punch walks, and post-project follow-up. EMG acted as a key liaison throughout each project for the client. As construction volume increased, EMG saw a critical need to be able to distribute real-time information quickly, to meet the substantial construction volume in both building and remodeling a chain that now numbers over 400 company-owned retail stores.

Result

In addition to the growing role that EMG provided on the Project Management front, EMG recognized a need to consolidate all of the construction and financial information associated with the substantial growth, and worked with the client to develop a unique program in ProTrack to suit the specific needs of Carter’s, Inc. With the implementation of the system, information was readily accessible to internal personnel, including the VP and Director of Construction, Store Planning, Marketing, and Project Management as well as external material suppliers, architectural firms, and general contractors. This in turn helped streamline the construction process from start to finish by allowing all parties to have access to key milestones. Through exceptional Project Management and the ProTrack system, Carter’s Inc. was able to more efficiently manage construction data, purchasing, and financials—and to unify reporting to the multiple stakeholders.
