In 2013, EMG conducted a Facility Condition Assessment of UMBC’s Columbus Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The 5-story, 260,140 SF Center was originally constructed in 2009 and is currently occupied by researchers and staff of four University of Maryland Institutions: the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES); the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC); the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB); and Towson University’s Center for STEM Excellence providing outreach and education programs to Maryland’s K-12 schools; UMBC’s Institute of Fluorescence; and the Hall which is currently unoccupied and used infrequently for large events
The results of the study will be used to identify UMBC’s facilities renewal needs for the building.
